ARTSHOP Welcomes Evan Hollis. I am delighted to warmly welcome Mr. Evan Hollis to the ARTSHOP team this week. Evan is well known within the arts communities of Southeast Queensland and beyond, most notably and impressively through his dedicated, skilful and successful curation and management of the Downlands College Art Exhibition, since 2006. Evan’s diversity of interests and capabilities make him a wonderful fit for ARTSHOP as a custom picture framer and designer. He is highly respected for his artistic and design talents, particularly as a printmaker and sculptor. With a deep knowledge of art and arts education, Evan is a valued figure among students, educational colleagues, artists and collectors. His passion for theatre set design and construction is another creative outlet, showcasing his imaginative vision and mechanical dexterity. Importantly, Evan is known for his love of community. This, along with his warm, generous, service-oriented personality, make Evan so appealing and we are excited to work together in service of our loyal clients. As a picture framer who has cared for, designed and created the framed environments for photographs for decades through @artshoptoowoomba and prior in Sydney, I loved this exhibition. Fine Italian hand-leafed gold moulding and cotton ragmat double mounting, adorned with a delicate hand-painted gold bevel edge, pays homage to an exquisite gouache illustration by award-winning jeweller, Keelie Sander. This museum-grade custom framing houses the beautiful blueprint of the bespoke-designed ring generously donated by @hogansfamilyjewellers for the 2024 @racqlifeflightrescue Toowoomba Gala held last Saturday night. It is truly an honour for the ARTSHOP team to preserve the work of our local artists and support a service that provides specialist care to those in need in our community. I was proud to deliver the naming rights sponsor’s address on behalf of @russellmineralequipment at @downlandsart opening night, last night. It was a beautiful Spring evening and @evanh1965 laid on the sensory luxury to the Darling Downs once again. Frankly I’m humbled by his commitment and skill. @rekorennie work was not featured at this annual exhibition but it certainly rated a mention, by me, having seen it at @agnsw this week. Let art unite us and give us the courage to find and speak our voice. Let us have the humility to hear and accept our diversity.

A very lovely day overall!

A year in the making and finally I have grouped and hung the reframed five original 1925 rural watercolours by W. Young which were commissioned by my paternal great grandfather. Mocking the display up using a visualisation is very helpful and all part of the Artshop service 🙏 UV filtering Museum glass for zero reflection, archival rag mats with hand coloured edges and custom designed and manufactured gold leaf frames. I’m in heirloom heaven!
