CONSERVATION

Fine art conservation

Conserving art so it can be appreciated today and for future generations, requires a multi-disciplinary approach – technical skill, scientific investigation, historical knowledge, and an appreciation of risk.

ARTSHOP brings these disciplines, as well as a high attention to detail, to the long-term preservation and presentation of fine art and valuable objects. Our staff are trained in a variety of conservation methods to preserve fragile works and extend longevity – not only for art, but frames, mouldings, and artefacts too.

We can advise on ethical methods for the conservation of oil, acrylic and water colour paintings, drawings or prints on paper, photographs, textiles, objects and more. All materials used are conservation-standard and pH-neutral. We aim to respect the artist’s intent and the unique qualities of the work. When appropriate, we can also consult with the original artist or their foundation and fold their advice into the conservation solution.
