Matboards

Matboards

A matboard, also known as a mat or mount board, is often selected to sit in between an artwork and its frame. Matboards are utilised for both preservation and aesthetic needs. A matboard can protect the art from environmental harm such as humidity. It does this by creating a small space, or air gap, between the artwork and the glass. Matboards are also used for embellishment and creating visual breaks between the art and frame elements, and links to the surrounding environment.

ARTSHOP personnel are expert in guiding clients to choose the right matboard for their treasured pieces. So much balance and beauty can be created through the right matboard colour, thickness, proportions and subtle embellishments like French lines, v-grooves, separated v-grooves, float matting, mat elevation and multiple matting.
