Art Restoration

Artwork restoration

Art restoration involves repairing a work, such as a painting, that has suffered environmental degradation or damage over time. The aim is to rehabilitate the work in keeping with the original intent and cultural heritage. This involves restoring in harmony with the artist’s colours, brush strokes or palette knife work, and in a way that the restorer’s work is almost imperceptible. This process can also focus on stabilising the piece to prevent further decline.

ARTSHOP understands the specialised conservation-standard processes, materials and skills demanded by art restoration. Each project starts with an assessment of the piece’s needs, and the repair approach is customised to the nature of the wear or damage. Services may include securing flaking paint, retouching, filling in paint losses, repair to tears on canvas, paper or boards, surface cleaning, varnish repairs and more.

Whether you are an owner, collector or business, ARTSHOP would love to assist your next art restoration project.
